Iain Richardson

Iain Richardson is an internationally known expert on the MPEG and H.264 video compression standards. He is the author of four books and over 80 research papers on video compression. He regularly advises companies on video compression technology, video coding patents and mergers/acquisitions in the video coding industry. Professor Richardson contributes to the MPEG industry standards group and is sought after as an expert witness. Based in Aberdeen, Scotland, he spends much of his time in the US. Yafan Zhao

Dr Zhao received her PhD in video coding at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK in 2003. Since then, she has worked as a researcher and consultant in the area of video compression and communications. She is the author of many research publications, including papers in leading technical journals and patent applications. She is a regular reviewer for IEEE transactions on Circuits and System for Video Technology and Signal processing: Image communications. Her expertise includes video coding standards, algorithms and software design of video CODECs as well as coding algorithms and system performance analysis and evaluation. She has worked with leading companies in the video coding industry.

Patricia Ballantyne

Patricia Ballantyne is a consultant and researcher with extensive experience of media, corporate and academic communications and strong connections with museums and archive institutions in the UK and USA. She is a Director of Vcodex Limited, established in 2007, a Scottish company that provides expert services related to video compression.
